Christmas celebrations are over now... sooner the New Year is on.
Holiday celebrations quite often end up in drinking and eating. But people with restricted diets are more likely to feel lonely when one cannot partake in what rest of the people are eating, as per a study conducted.
Across seven similar studies and controlled trials, the researchers at Cornell University in the US found that food restrictions - due to allergies, health issues or religious or cultural norms certainly predicted loneliness among both male and female adults and also including children.
"Despite being physically present with other people, having a food restriction leaves people left out because they are not able to take in a real bonding over the meal."
The study offers the first evidence that having a food restriction causes increased loneliness. In yet another trial study, assigning unrestricted individuals to experience a food restriction increased feelings of loneliness.
That suggests such feelings are not driven by non-food issues or limited to picky eaters as per the above Cornell Research study.
